India's oil and gas companies have approached the ministry of petroleum and natural gas to find a solution to the slow pace of work at their project sites by two public sector undertakings - Bharat Heavy Plate & Vessels Ltd and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd
The companies including Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd and Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd have expressed concern over the slackness in the manufacture and erection of critical equipment by the two companies that has delayed their projects beyond the contractual delivery dates.
 Sources in the ministry of petroleum and natural gas said that the slow pace of work by BHPV had affected HPCL's green fuels and emissions control project in Mumbai by 26 months beyond the contractual delivery date. The Bina refinery project of BORL is lagging behind by 16 months, and the NHDT/CRU and CDU/VDU revamp projects of CPCL by five and four months, respectively.
Likewise, the slow pace of manufacture and erection of critical equipment by Bhel has delayed the Bina refinery project by 10 months; BPCL's phase-II capacity expansion and modernisation project by 7 months; HPCL's FCC unit by six months; and CPCL's Euro IV project by two months. Besides, as many as four IndianOil projects have also been delayed, namely DHDT project at Bongaigaon by 13 months; improvement in diesel quality and distillate yield project by nine months; naphtha cracker and downstream units by 11 months; and residue upgradation project by five months.
